"Delivered"

“In Awe”

Jehovah rules the billowing sea; He owns each foaming wave;

From the shallow reef to the deep abyss, where no eye of man has gazed.

No man can ever map it out and say, “tis mine to own”;

This vast expanse of waters know, no other Lord but God alone!

From these waters He forms the thunderhead, the hail, and the driving sleet;

Yet He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand;

It’s He alone who sends the rain to fall on the thirsty lands.

He makes the clouds the chariots, to deliver mercy as well as wrath;

He walks upon the wings of the wind, and charts their celestial path.

He sends the lighting from His hand, and with rolling thunder speaks;

Yet He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

To the Hebrews He gave the crystal fount that welled up from the smitten rock;

He came as “The Shepherd”, to die as a “Lamb”, and save the rest of the flock.

He set the world in motion, with laws to hold its place;

But the greatest law that man has known, is the law of abounding grace!

He’s God of the valleys and the hills, the caverns and the peaks;

Yet He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

He sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills;

Providing there for every foul, and beast to drink their fill.

He makes the giant sequoia’s grow without the help of man;

He cares for the mighty mountain range, And canyons deep and grand!

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, the horses and the sheep;

Yet He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

He sent the ravens to feed Elijah, a coin to Peter in the mouth of a fish;

He talked to Balaam through a donkey’s mouth, and granted Solomon his every wish!

He spoke to Moses from a burning bush, to Jonah in the belly of a whale;

His providence knows, no bounds at all, and His Word never fails.

He gave Daniel deliverance from the lions den, and the prophecy of seventy weeks;

Yet He talked with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

Wild beast, He gives their favorite hour, to hunt their food at night;

To man He gave the breaking dawn, that he might walk in light.

To whom do you think the lion roar, if not to God for meat;

A kind of prayer to the “Master of All”, before they go out to seek!

He tells the sun it’s time to set,…prepares the chamber where we sleep;

Yet He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…And holds me when I weep.

To the sun He gave its blazing light, and azure to the sky;

He hung the moon and the stars above, for the Voyager to travel by.

So let not the wise man boast of wisdom, nor the mighty man of his might;

But let him boast that he understands, and knows the “God of Light”!

His eternal love shall be the pillow, on which I rest my head to sleep;

As He talks with “me” in a still small voice,…I no longer need to weep.

                                                                                                           John Huskey 2010

Even to your old age I shall be the same, and even to your graying years I shall bear you! I have done it, and I shall carry you. And I shall bear you and I shall deliver you!  To whom would you liken Me, and make equal and compare Me, that we would be alike? (Isaiah 46:4-5)
